  The MUBS ICT Centre was established and launched in April 5, 2011 by Makerere University Business School in partnership with the International Centre for Information Technology and Development (ICITD), USA. The ICT Centre is an outreach unit consisting of a consortium of local and international consultants, trainers, researchers, practitioners and academicians collaborating to promote ICT as a solution to individual and institutional development challenges in Uganda and the region. Vision of the Centre.Generate ICT Solutions to Africas development challenge.Mission of the CentreEmpowering Africa with ICT tools and Solutions.Overall strategic goal of the ICT CentreTo enable ICT to be used in Africas development challenge.Long term strategic goals1.To generate knowledge and find solutions to Africas development challenges through ICT2.To develop professionalism and proficiency in ICT through training and Certifications.3.To provide Information repository and a collaborative platform for promotion of ICT research for social economic transformation4.To give back to the community5.To provide ICT consultancy solutions and generate revenues for the centre6.To create collaborative environment with other academic and non academic institutions for the promotion of ICT education and usage in the countryWhat we doIn order to achieve our objectives, the MUBS ICT Centre carries out the following activities;1.Together with International Centre for Information Technology and Development, organize the annual ICT4Africa Conferences.2.Organize research seminars and workshops3.Compile research findings4.Seek for grant proposals5.Publish ICT research findings6.Conduct trainings in ICT professional programs7.Conduct ICT professional certifications exams8.Conduct performance based ICT skills training programs for organizations9.Train & promote e-learning tools in institutions of higher learning in the country and region10.Create and maintain online information centre11.Create and update ICT data bank12.Write grant proposals13.Write ICT conference papers14.Provide information on ICT projects in the region15.Provide information on community ICT projects in the country and region16.Sensitize and create awareness on ICT among disadvantaged communities.17.Train the community on ICT18.Support existing community based ICT Centres19.Establish community based ICT Centres.20.Provide ICT based consultancy services21.Coordinate teaching of ICT university programs.22.Provide administrative function for ICT University23.Organize ICT staff exchange programs for MUBS staff24.Coordinate students exchange programs for MUBS students
